Pacho is the banana tree. Not many Koreans are familiar with the fact that this exotic plant has existed for centuries in Korean Penilsula. Even though the kind of banana tree existed in old Korea did not necessarily produce banana fruit, the look of bold leaves and the tall straight posture was charming enough to catch painters’ eyes.
When my master taught me pachodo, she said the most important part is the vein of leaves.
